FC Tokyo is a professional soccer club founded in 1935 and whose home town is Tokyo.
Since the home stadium is Ajinomoto Stadium (Tokyo Stadium) in Chofu City and the practice field is in Kodaira City, local activities are mainly performed around Chofu City including Mitaka City and Fuchu City, and in Kodaira City. In 1999, joined the J League as the first team based in Tokyo. At the same time, the name was changed from the former Tokyo Gas Football Club to FC Tokyo. Since 1999, the first year of membership, they ranked second in J2 and has been promoted to J1. After that, it was regrettable for several years without getting the title despite being involved in the championship front, but in 2004, they won the PK match against Urawa Reds and won the Yamazaki Nabisco Cup (now the Levan Cup), the first title of the club. They experienced J2 demotion for the first time in the club in 2010, but FC Tokyo made the J2 first victory of the year and decided to return to J1 in a splendid year.
The momentum increased, and in the same year in the Emperor's Cup FC Tokyo proceeded to the first final, and won a large number of points against Kyoto against 4 points. FC Tokyo won the Emperor's Cup for the first time, and at the same time earned the right to participate in the 2012 AFC Champions League (ACL). In the 2019 season, they missed the league title, but set a new record in the history of the club, with 64 points and 19 points, 7 minutes, 8 losses, and 64 points. Masato Morishige, Shigeru Muroya, Diego Oliveira, Kensuke Nagai, Kento Hashimoto and Akihiro Hayashi were selected as the best eleven, and Yojiro Takahagi won the excellent player award, and Diego Oliveira received the monthly MVP (April) and Hasegawa won the Monthly Excellent Director Award (April). The team also won the J League Fair Play Award Takamadomiya Cup.
The 2020 season, which will continue with this momentum, will start with the playoff participation in the "AFC Champions League 2020" held on January 28 (Tuesday) at the home stadium and Ajinomoto Stadium. The "2020 Yasuda Mutual Life Insurance Co. J1 League" will start from Shimizu S-Pulse at IAI Stadium Nihondaira on Sunday, February 23, and will open at the home and Ajinomoto Stadium soon.
